Equinox Financial Partners
Committed to Supporting Socially Responsible Events to Help the Community
In October each year, we hold a food drive for Long Island Harvest, which has been continually successful. In years 2009 & 2010, which were very difficult years for Long Islanders, we were able to donate over 100 boxes of food with the help of co-workers other businesses in our former building in Lake Success. As of 2012 Kevin Peters will be working closely with Island Harvest as a committee member help bring much needed food and household items to Long Island families in need. We have just concluded our 2015 food drive for Long Island Harvest. We collected over 1,000 lbs of food that will feed 800 families.
In December 2010 we added a Coat Drive to our agenda for the Salvation Army. As always and with much appreciation from Salvation Army we have gathered well over 150 coats as well as gloves, hats and scarves for children and adults.
February 2011 was our Cell Phone collection. Again the Salvation Army has guided us in letting us know what the community needs. Over 100 phones where collected and will be used for patients in the Veterans Home in Northport to keep in touch with their families; others will be donated to a Battered Women’s shelter.
May 2011 Equinox Financial Partners working with the American Cancer Society helped to plan Long Islands largest ACS event, the "Gala". All partners worked on the Gala planning committee. Together we raised donations and collect items for auction. The 2011 Gala event raised over $120,000 to support the fight against cancer. The Gala Event is just one small part of our involvement with the American Cancer Society
Equinox Financial Partners was involved in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on October 16, 2011 and have a number of other events in the planning stages.
New on the Agenda for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015.... and Future Events
Once again we had the good fortune to be invited to sit on the board and host the American Cancer Society's committee to plan the 2015 Gala Event. In 2012 the Gala celebrated it's 50th anniversary. This charity event to raise funds to find a cure for cancer was held on June 1, 2012 at The Village Club at Lake Success, Great Neck, New York. Together we helped to raise over $155,000 for the 2012 Gala. With your help we will raise more in 2013, (those figures just in as we are pleased to have raised over $95,000). Please view pictures of the event now posted on the Photo Gallery page. Once again in 2014 we raised over $100,000 and we are please to report the final Gala numbers are in for 2015 with over $135,000 raised at the November 6th event.
Each spring we hold a drive to collect school supplies for children in need. New pencils, note books, pens, markers, erasers, etc. are being collected through September 24th if you are interested in helping please let us know. Our suit drive just concluded and all the cloths we gathered will be delivered this week to suits for soldiers. Suits for Soldiers is an organization dedicated to provideing dress clothes for returning military personnel helping them to get back into society and the workforce. Again the Salvation Army has guided us in letting us know what the community needs. As always we continue to collect items to be donated to the Salvation Army Food Pantry. The pantry is open 5 days a week and is a place where the less fortunate can find basic items that are desperately needed.
Huntington High School Devildroids 2014 Robotics team!
Equinox Financial Partners is pleased to announce the sponsorship of the Huntington High School Devildroids Robotics team!
Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, and application of robots, as well as computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing. Many of today's robots are inspired by nature contributing to the field of bio-inspired robotics.
The 2014 Devildroids were named ALL STAR ROOKIES at the Regional competition which rewards the team with an invitation to the Championship competition which takes place in St. Louis. The regional competition was costly and depleted the money that was donated last fall. The team members have been fundraising and still needed additional support.
This next generation of thinkers and innovators has inspired Equinox Financial Partners to sponsor the Devildroids in their quest to the Championships in St. Louis. Go Devildroids! click here to learn more
COVID19, EQUINOX CARES
Equinox Financial Partners has been looking to do something to combat COVID19 and realized we could not supply masks, ventilators or PPE as they are in such supply.
Wanting to take care of those who take care of the sick Equinox Financial Partners has arranged to send dinner to the doctors and nurses at Syosset Hospital on April 9th
Together with Raimos Pizza of Hicksville we have arranged for dinner to be served to fifty doctors, nurses and front line staff. Dinner will include a tossed green salad, half a hero and a slice of pizza to be individually boxed and sent to the front line workers during the evening shift.
The plan is to do this several times over the next month.
Please continue to check back from time to time to see how we are helping to make a difference and how you may join us to make a difference as well
